My friends, family, boyfriend, Twitter, Facebook and Blogging all have something in common. Whether directly or indirectly, they are my support system for my healthy lifestyle and my weight loss goals.

My friends, family, and boyfriend are always there for me, regardless of what goals I have, as long as they see that my goals are making me happy and healthy, they will always be behind me. They support me through love. I can talk to them about anything pretty much at anytime and even if they aren’t on the same path as me, they will always do their best to provide positive reinforcement and constructive criticism.

Twitter is an instant support group made up of people that have the same goals as I do. Pretty much any time of day I can find someone to talk to when I’m seeking advice, encouragement, to be talked down from eating too much chocolate, or just someone to share a recent trial or success with. Do you want to follow me? Go ahead, let me know who you are and I’ll follow you back @merbearmn! People on Twitter that find they have a lot in common and can provide support for each other often will form groups that can be followed by a hashtag, for example I follow the hashtag #f2fpack, which means Fat to Fit Pack. We post questions, exercise reports, encouragement, non scale victories, our blogs, and challenges to each other followed by this hashtag! Feel free to join in! I’ve even met people who are now in the "friends" category, always a bonus!

Facebook…we all pretty much know how it works. The part of Facebook that is my support group are just that, support groups that have been created by people who have goals in common. One group I’m a member of is private and secret so the girls in the group can be candid about our weight loss journeys and not worry that its going to be posted publicly on Facebook. Another group I’m a member of is the same one that follows the #f2fpack hashtag! We are called #f2fpack on Facebook and we support each other by posting interesting articles, asking questions, challenging each other, organizing meetups and even signing up for races together! If you’d like to join tweet me or post a reply and I’ll get you invited via one of our admins, we are a closed group because we don’t want just anybody in the group, we want people that are there to gain support and be supportive of people on their weight loss and healthy lifestyle journeys.

Blogging is also important to me for support. First of all it supports my mental health by allowing me to just get out there what is on my mind and it keeps a record of how I’ve been doing, so I can look back and reflect or even learn from past. The other reason I like blogging is because bloggers come together as an online and sometimes in person community that has common interests. Through my blog, I have found other blogs (via comments) and been able to meet other bloggers that are local to me in person. I like to contribute support to and receive support from the blogging community. I love getting comments, but I also know that you guys are out there reading even if you’re not commenting because I can see who’s subscribed and who’s clicking! So thank you dear readers!

I wanted to write this post because I wanted to share how important to success having a support system can be and to share with you all different places and ways to find a support system. Utilize them all or as many as you can! Having people that surround you that are your #1 cheerleaders and/or can identify with your journey can be comforting and motivating.

Love my friends, family, boyfriend, tweeple, Facebook friends and my readers!

Fast, Easy and Healthy Chicken Cordon Bleu

I needed a recipe that I could have on the table within 40 minutes of getting home because I had to eat and get back out the door on Friday night.

I was asking around at work and my lovely coworker asked what I had at home and I responded, “chicken, chicken and basically some more chicken” hahaha. She told me about her quick cordon bleu that her husband loves and it can be prepped in about 5 minutes and plated within 35 minutes after that…I’m in!

I made this on Friday night and my boyfriend ate two chicken breasts for dinner and ate two more that night while I was out! He then requested I make it again on Monday so I did, with leftovers for lunches 🙂

Chicken Cordon Bleu, french cut green beans w/ Smart Balance Light for lunch!

I didn’t measure anything, so here goes, adjust for how many chicken breasts you are using:

Ingredients:

  • 6 boneless, skinless chicken breasts
  • 3 whole eggs (you could use 4 egg whites)
  • about 1 1/2 cups of flour (enough to dip your chicken breasts in)
  • garlic salt to taste
  • ground black pepper to taste
  • 6 thin slices of swiss cheese (about 1 oz each) – some people prefer provolone
  • 12 thin slices of deli ham
  • cooking spray

Instructions:

  1. Preheat oven to 350
  2. Prepare a baking sheet with cooking spray
  3. In a mixing bowl mix together the flour, garlic salt and black pepper
  4. In another bowl have your eggs or egg whites ready
  5. Dip each chicken breast in the eggs and then the flour mixture and place on the baking sheet
  6. Bake for 25 minutes
  7. Take sheet of chicken out, leave oven on
  8. Slice each chicken breast horizontally in the middle about 3/4 of the way through to the other side
  9. In that space place 1 slice of  cheese and 2 slices of ham
  10. Bake for another 5 minutes

I served this with a side of french cut steamed green beans (the frozen kind that steam in the bag)

We loved it, raved about it, felt special and all fancy/gourmet.

I hope you like it, too!

I loved this so much I had to post it, can those of you who track your workouts down to the “type” relate?  Hahaha, I have to admit, I’ve been curious about counting this kind of workout myself *wink* *wink* *nudge* *nudge*.

I love XKCD because I’m a geek, technophile, what have you, but I think this particular strip any cardio fan can relate to!

Enjoy!
