Dec 142011

I’ve signed myself up for a WHOLE YEAR of races!! As ya’ll know I’m already doing the Resolution Run 5K on New Year’s Eve. Well, now I’ve got a whole year of runs called the Monster Series put on by Team Ortho! Each run has multiple distances to choose from, everyone wins a medal, you get to run some of the best routes in Minneapolis and the whole spirit of all these races is just FUN!

In order to do each of the runs the whole year, I committed to the Polar Dash, the first run of the year. Which is on January 1st!  So….I’m going to END 2011 with a New Year’s Eve run…and then START 2012 off on the right foot with a New Year’s DAY run! (fortunately its at 10am, thank goodness its not one of those 7am ones!).  So while I will still be having *some* fun on New Year’s Eve..I’m looking to have a nice weekend of healthiness, too!

I’m really excited to have created a focus for myself for the whole year..they are all different types of runs, in different places around Minneapolis, so I have different goals to go for. I also really like Team Ortho’s mission statement and that they are all about living a healthy and active lifestyle.

Here’s my schedule of races with the Monster Series!

Polar Dash 5K – January 1st (I live in MN folks, this is gonna be brr!, but the gear is a fleece!)

Get Lucky 7k – St. Patrick’s Day! I’m excited to try this new distance (after parties at 3 Irish pubs!)

Minneapolis Marathon Relay Style –  June 3rd – I’m running on a team of 4, so excited to do a Marathon course with my friends – Corryn, Kelly, and Amanda!

Minneapolis Duathlon – August 26th – 5K, 18 mile bike ride, 5K – ALL BY MYSELF! SO EXCITED!

Monster Dash 5K – October 27th – another “fun run” wear a costume, kid friendly, dog friendly, have fun! I hope that I’ll be pretty fast by next year!

I better keep up my training!!!

  1. You’ll have fun at the Du and while you’re doing it, you’ll wonder why the crap you signed up for it! But in the end you’ll be amazed that you finished and all the training was worth it.

    My 2 cents:
1 cent: if you can, get smoother tires for your bike…or borrow a bike (but make sure you can train on that bike)
2 cent: Make sure you do brick workouts.

  2. […] First off…I hope everyone is having a wonderful holiday season…Happy New Year coming up! If you want to know my major plans for this year…read my race schedule so far here. […]
